This year, Lucinda Hannington, our Director of Education and Visitors Services, teamed up with Kathleen Flynn-Neumann, the Manager of Education and Interpretive Programs at the Maine Historical Society for a History Camp tailored for middle school students. Over the course of a week participants explored life in the past with activities that ranged from discussions of historic foodways to a visit to the blacksmiths at the Portland Forge. Experts from within the ranks of the Mansion’s docent pool also assisted by sharing their own knowledge of the past to add variety and depth to the week’s offering with a symbolism tour in Western Cemetery and plein air painting on the Mansion lawn. We look forward to continuing this great partnership in the future!
