Event Details

Women’s roles in the late 19th century were often constrained by tradition and a male-centered society. Some women managed to break out of their molds and find ways to advance in American society. Three notable women of the time were Jane Armstrong Tucker, Madeleine Pollard, and Amalia Kussner. Authors Elizabeth DeWolfe and Kathleen Langone will share their research on these women who each found their path out of the traditional role assigned to them.

This program is co-sponsored by the USM History Department and is free admission. Space is limited, so please register in advance.
